Right or Right

Anyone who agrees with you.
You already know you are right, you don’t need reinforcements.
When you get into an argument with your spouse, or child for that matter, seeking advice from the people who agree with you is like asking the iceberg for help after it hit the Titanic.
This is actually not that hard to envision, that your life would be immensely easier if after a serious argument your spouse were to hear from three trusted advisors that she was in the wrong.
As I said, not too hard to envision. But what about this one, three of your trusted advisors point out that YOU are in the wrong.
That’s not so easy to envision. Why?
Because you aren’t going to let it happen. The people we typically surround ourselves with are pre-selected on a basis of blind ignorance to our stupidity. Nothing personal, I have the same friends.
If you want to make your life easier, in other words, if you want to come to a place where you and your spouse understand each other, then speak to the people who don’t agree with you.
If you make that commitment to each other, that you will only speak to the people who agree with your spouse then very few arguments would not be resolved – easily.
And if you don’t know anyone who agrees with your spouse, ask her, she will give you the list.
