Week 2, Day 6

Week 2 Theme:

What Parenting Is

Day 6 Point:

It is important to realize that the frustration we feel in parenting is part of the job of parenting.

As much as our children need air to breathe, they similarly need to know we care.

I know this sounds odd, but if we were not frustrated, our children would never know how much we care. That is because we don’t get frustrated over things we don’t care about.

Therefore, as much as we would like smooth sailing, and as much as we should aim for that, there is a real balance between solving crises and appreciating that crises are important for your children’s sense of worth.

Action Point:

The perfect parent enjoys and appreciates the need for the frustration.
